·         Reduce loneliness and isolation

·         particularly in elderly.

·         Increase awareness and use of

·         community groups and buildings.

Work in the community

·         I was elected as a Saddleworth Parish Councillor in May 2023 and am an active participant in the Parish.

·         I have provided a long term cost saving to the Councillors annual Christmas tree spend.  With support from local community groups I have enabled two living Christmas trees to be purchased and planted in Grotton and Springhead.  This will save many hundreds of pounds in future years and is good for the environment.

·         Enforcement measures have been installed on Woodend Street and John Booth Street in Lees to aid visibility for other residents and reduce pavement parking which hampers those with pushchairs and mobility aids.

·         Local improvement funding bids submitted January 2024 and those approved to date are for the following community organisations:

·         LSG Litter Heroes

·         Royal British Legion in Lees

·         Springhead AFC

·         Grotton Residents Association – trustee and committee member.

·         Lees, Springhead and Grotton litter heroes group – regular attendance at monthly litter collections in all villages, the annual “Spring clean up” event as well as many ad hoc litter collections when out and about.  I have also used the Community Payback team to support clean up events and support community work i.e. vegetation pruning.

·         Group co-ordinator of the Oldham 2 Re-Engage charity and organise monthly tea parties for isolated and lonely elderly residents in the borough.

Ward Budget Spend

I have given funding to the community garden at Old Mill House.

Two new living Christmas trees purchased in Springhead and Grotton.

Other small, community focused projects including a community bulb planting project.
