Any ward issues or casework can be sent through these means or by emailing, giving me a text or a call.

I was elected a Councillor on Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council in 2012 for Saddleworth North Ward.  I am currently Shadow Cabinet Member for Employment and Skills.

I have been a maths teacher and now work as a Specialist ASD teacher in a resourced provision for students with Autism to enable them to access mainstream education.

My philosophy is to be constructive, is to solve problems, not just to complain about them.  I believe in straight talking but do not believe that the loudest voices speak truest or work most effectively.

Work in thecommunity

The last year has been incredibly challenging for all/ Your Liberal Democrat councillors have been busier than ever during the coronavirus crisis.  On top of their normal work, now mainly online, our local team has been busy pitching in to support the community, answering a host of queries from residents and businesses, and Lib Dem volunteers have collected prescriptions and shopping, as have so many wonderful local people. Our priority was to telephone residents who may be vulnerable or isolated, to ensure that they have the support they need.

In response to what people told me, I produced a contact list of sources of information, advice and help.  It went to every home in the ward and is on my website.  It has been well received and I hope people continue to find it useful.  And, of course, please contact me if you need more help

I wrote to a number of businesses in Saddleworth who had gone above and beyond to keep people going throughout these challenging times. I have attended many briefings on COVID and scrutinized the response locally.

Local residents and community associations have made me proud to represent Saddleworth. The community really has come together and helped each other out

In addition to the work around the COVID pandemic work as a ward councilor has continued on key priorities that residents have said are important to them. We have reflected these issues in motions we have put to council.

I have worked on road safety, protecting the green belt and green spaces, fly tipping, protecting the environment, campaigning for a new health centre

Other examples are:

·         20 MPH speed limit campaign

·         Campaigning for improvements to bus and rail services

·         Declaring a climate change emergency and pushing for a greener borough

·         Fighting for appropriate development that protects the green spaces and greenbelt and pushing for brownfield first

·         Positive Steps Board Member

·         Planning Committee

·         Attended Overview and Scrutiny Performance and Value for Money

·         Full Council meetings

·         Shadow Cabinet Member for Employment where I meet with officers and scrutinizes the portfolio

·         School Governor at Diggle School
