Residents of Beaufont Dr are experiencing increasing difficulty finding available parking spaces near their homes because a significant amount of on-street parking is being used by people who do not live on the street.
This is causing considerable inconvenience to residents, particularly during busy periods, when residents can be forced to park a significant distance from their homes. This makes everyday activities such as unloading shopping, carrying belongings and attending to family responsibilities unnecessarily difficult.
The purpose of this petition is not to prevent visitors or legitimate users from accessing the area. We are asking the Council to recognise the difficulties faced by residents and investigate whether a Resident Parking Permit Scheme would be an appropriate and proportionate solution.
We therefore ask Oldham Council to investigate the parking situation on Beaufont Dr, assess the extent of non-resident parking and consult with local residents about introducing a Resident Parking Permit Scheme.
Any scheme should also make reasonable provision for visitors, carers and other essential visitors to residents.
We believe that introducing resident parking permits would help ensure that people who live on Beaufont Dr have a reasonable opportunity to park near their own homes and would significantly reduce the inconvenience currently being experienced by residents.
