The purpose of this report is to seek approval
for the implementation of a Local Safety Scheme along the A640
Huddersfield Road and A672 Ripponden Road Denshaw. The affected
section of the A640 is along the rural section from Denshaw through
to the Kirklees Borough boundary and the section of the A672 is
from Denshaw through to the Borough boundary with Calderdale. The
proposed road safety scheme is designed to reduce the potential for
road traffic accidents occurring along with the number of resultant
casualties. This is proposed in pursuance of provisional 2020
casualty reduction targets and is in accordance with the
Council’s statutory obligation to reduce road traffic
accidents under Section 39 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. The scheme
will reduce the pain, grief and suffering associated with road
traffic accidents
