The Appointments Committee has these roles and
responsibilities:

Agree on hiring for Chief
Officer positions, including outlining the job
duties, qualifications needed, and how the job will be
advertised.

Decide whether the
recruitment or discipline of individual Deputy Chief
Officers will be handled by elected Members or by
the Head of Paid Service.

Agree on hiring for Deputy
Chief Officer positions that will be filled by
elected Members, including job duties, qualifications, and
advertising arrangements.

Create a long list, short
list, and conduct interviews for the Head of Paid
Service/Chief Executive position and recommend an appointment to
the Council.
·
Create a long list, short
list, and conduct interviews to appoint Chief
Officers.
·
Create a long list, short
list, and conduct interviews to appoint Deputy
Chief Officers.
·
Have the authority to hire
Chief Officers and Deputy Chief Officers and set
their terms and conditions.
The Appointments Committee will be the main
committee responsible for decisions regarding JNC Chief Officers
and for making recommendations before any potential
layoffs.
The Appointments Committee is authorized to
approve major changes related to Chief Officer positions, including
any senior management restructuring that affects terms and
conditions.
