The Standards Committee helps the Council
carry out its responsibilities under Chapter 7 of the Localism Act
2011, which includes:

Promoting and maintaining high standards of behaviour for
Councillors, co-opted members, church and parent governor
representatives, and independent members.
·
Helping Councillors, co-opted members, church and
parent governor representatives, and independent members follow the
Members’ Code of Conduct.
·
Advising the Council on adopting or updating the
Members’ Code of Conduct and responding to consultation
documents.
·
Monitoring how the Members’ Code of Conduct is
working.
·
Providing advice and training for Councillors,
co-opted members, church and parent governor representatives, and
independent members on the Members’ Code of
Conduct.
·
Handling any reports from the Monitoring
Officer.
·
Addressing any complaints
