RESOLVED that Councillor Junaid Hussain be elected Chair for the duration of the meeting.

RESOLVED that the Free School Travel Pass Appeal procedure be noted.

Exclusion of the Press and Public

To consider that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business, pursuant to Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that discussions may involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, under paragraphs 1 and 2 as defined in the provisions of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, to the Local Government Act 1972 and public interest would not be served in publishing the information.

Minutes:

RESOLVED that, in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they contain exempt information under paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and it would not, on balance, be in the public interest to disclose the reports.

Free School Travel Pass Appeal

Minutes:

The Education Provision Manager presented the case on behalf of the Local Education Authority calling no witnesses in support. The Appellant attended to present their case.

 

The Committee asked questions of the Local Education Authority and the Appellant, and both parties were given the opportunity to ask questions of each other.

 

Both parties were given the opportunity to sum up their case. The Committee adjourned whilst deliberations took place.

 

RESOLVED that the Appeal be GRANTED, as the circumstances detailed by the Appellant were considered to be exceptional by the Panel, so as to merit a departure from the Authority’s policy.
