Exclusion of the Press and Public To consider that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business, pursuant to Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that discussions may involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, under paragraph(s) 1 as defined in the provisions of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, to the Local Government Act 1972 and public interest would not be served in publishing the information. Minutes: RESOLVED: That, in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they contain exempt information under paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and it would not, on balance, be in the public interest to disclose the reports.

Appeal Pack To consider an Appeal against Dismissal. Minutes: The Appellant attended the meeting and presented his case to the Committee, supported by a Union Representative. The Appellant called no witnesses.
The Dismissing officer, supported by a Human Resources adviser, presented the case on behalf of the authority. The Dismissing officer called no witnesses.
The Committee asked questions of both the Appellant and the Dismissing officer.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:50am and reconvened at 10:55am. The Dismissing officer was given the opportunity to sum up the case. The Appellant was given the opportunity to sum up the case with support from his Representative.
Having clarified all the points raised by the Committee the Appellant, Representative, Dismissing officer and the supporting Human Resources adviser were asked to leave the meeting to enable the Committee to deliberate its decision.
Having considered the information presented to the Committee, the Committee decided to uphold the dismissal.
The Appellant was notified that he would receive confirmation of the decision in writing within 5 working days of the close of the meeting.
RESOLVED: That the appeal NOT BE UPHELD.
