RESOLVED that Councillor Harrison be elected Chair of the Panel for the duration of the meeting.

RESOLVED that the Appeals procedure be noted.

Exclusion of the Press and Public

That, in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they contain exempt information under paragraph(s) 1 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and it would not, on balance, be in the public interest to disclose the reports.

Appeal Against Dismissal

Minutes:

The Chair of the Committee ensured that the Dismissing officer was aware or the appeals procedure.

 

The Human Resources Adviser informed the Committee that an email had been received by Constitutional Services on the 19th March 2023 [AS1] stating that HT would not be able to attend the Committee meeting or any other Committee meeting in person or otherwise for the foreseeable future.

 

The Dismissing officer supported by a Human Resources adviser presented the case on behalf of the authority. The Dismissing officer called no witnesses.

 

The Committee asked questions of the Dismissing officer.

 

The Dismissing officer was given the opportunity to sum up the case.

 

Having clarified all the points raised by the Committee the Dismissing officer and the supporting Human Resources adviser were asked to leave the meeting to enable the Committee to deliberate its decision.

 

On being allowed back into the meeting the Committee informed the Dismissing officer that having considered the information presented to the Committee, the Committee had decided to DISMISS the appeal.

 

The Dismissing officer was informed that he would be notified of the decision in writing within 5 working days of the close of the meeting.

 

RESOLVED: That the appeal be DISMISSED.
