Purpose:

The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) has awarded a Community Cohesion and Resilience Funding (CCRF) grant of £57k to the Council for the fiscal year 2024/25. This grant is to be utilised within the current financial year to support community cohesion and resilience work across the borough. The CCRF is part of the £2.5 million Integrated Security Fund (ISF), which is designed to provide support to local areas to bring communities together, strengthen social connections, and counter harmful narratives that drive divisions.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That we have accepted the MHCLG grant to utilise the CCRF funding and invite local community-based boxing clubs working with young people aged 11-16 to apply for a portion of the CCRF.

Reasons for the decision:

Option one – Accept the MHCLG grant and utilise the CCRF funding to invite seven community-based boxing organisations working with young people aged 11-16 to apply for a part of the CCRF and to deliver a programme which includes:
(a) the delivery of six weekly workshops.
(b) the consolidation of learning and relationships and the participation, by the grant recipients,
Option Two - Do not accept the funding
