The purpose of the report is to seek
approval;
- For the Council to acquire the Freehold interest in the former
Collective Spirit School and;
- Following acquisition, to take steps to demolish the buildings on
the site and;
- To work with Sport England to agree a suitable mitigation for the
proposed loss of the old sports pitches, the majority of which have
not been used since the closure of the former South Chadderton
School in July 2012.
RESOLVED - That the Council proceed to;
- Acquire the Freehold interest in the former Collective Spirit
site shown edged green on the attached plan, subject to the terms
and conditions outlined in Appendix Two of the report.
- Take steps to demolish the buildings following acquisition. This
would be subject to a further report confirming the preferred
contractor and contract sum in due course and;
- To promote the land for residential development and in doing so,
to work with Sport England to agree a suitable mitigation for the
proposed loss of sports pitches. Again, once a mitigation is agreed
with Sport England, this would be subject to a further
report.
Option 1 - Do nothing.
Option 2 - Acquire the subject site in accordance with the terms
set out in Appendix Two of the report.
