To consider the objections received and
options available to the Council following the completion of a
statutory advertising exercise in respect of the Council’s
intention to dispose of public open space at Milnrow Road / Siddall
Street, Shaw together with the site of the former Matthias Pilling
House.
RESOLVED - That: (i) The Council proceeds with
the proposals put forward by The Regenda Group for the development
of ten properties for Home-Buy, thereby providing affordable
housing and improved housing choice
Option 1 - To acknowledge the objections
received and retain part of the site as public open space. To seek
development of the remainder of the site for affordable housing via
a Registered Provider. Option 2 - To note the content of the
objections received but authorise the marketing and subsequent
disposal of the whole of the land on the open market for
residential development either by way of informal tender or auction
with a view to maximising a capital receipt to assist with the
Council’s Capital Programme. Option 3 - To note the content
of the objections received but proceed with a proposal put forward
by The Regenda Group for development of a ten unit
“home-buy” scheme on the basis that it is prepared to
retain part of the existing public open space and will maintain
thereafter at its own expense.
