Oldham Council’s Public Health team, in
partnership with NHS GM, successfully bid to GM Cancer Alliance for
the value of £56,500 to support the delivery of
neighbourhood-based approaches to improve cancer outcomes. The
focus of all associated activity is on early diagnosis, patients
living with cancer and reducing health inequalities. The funds were
made available specifically to enable local partnerships, across
neighbourhood teams including VCSFE sector to work with communities
in a meaningful, asset based and sustainable way to improve cancer
outcomes.
RESOLVED - That: Oldham Council will take
receipt of £56,500 grant from GM Cancer Alliance to support
partner organisation to deliver project that either help prevent
cancer, support early diagnosis and treatment, or help support
those living with cancer.
Option 1 -
• To approve the receipt of £56,500 from GM Cancer
Alliance for spend within 2026/27 to support the delivery of
projects aimed at improving cancer outcomes.
• To acknowledge that this report consolidates a number of
individual projects into a single paper for efficiency purposes;
however each project represents a distinct approach in its own
right, with all investment being undertaken in accordance with
corporate procurement rules.
• To agree the proposed routes to delivery for each of the
project areas.
Option 2 - To decline the funding from GM Cancer alliance, and to
not invest in a number of project areas that would support improved
outcomes for cancer.
