Purpose:

To seek approval to continue to commission the Oral Health Care Provision to support Adult Care providers across the borough in line with the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) regulation.
The current contract commenced on 01 July 2023 for in initial term of 1 year, with the option to extend by one year, and is due to expire on 30 June 2025. There are no further extension terms available as the one included has been utilised.
The provider has been delivering a high-quality service. It is proposed that the new contract will support the continuation of this vital service in Oldham.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That:
The recommendation is to seek approval to continue with the current provider (RIS Healthcare Ltd) in line with the PSR regulation, to deliver comprehensive oral health improvement training and develop staff skills within the health and social care sector across the borough of Oldham.

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - An alternative option is to decommission the Oral Health Care Provision.
This is not the recommended option as this will have a negative impact on the Oral Health of vulnerable older adults within care settings; thereby exacerbating health inequalities in Oldham.
