Purpose:

This report seeks approval for:

1. Oldham Council to accept funding of £120,000 from Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), funded via Active Travel Capability Fund 4 (Revenue Funding), for the development and delivery of School Streets schemes.

2. Oldham Council design, develop, and implement three new School Streets schemes, in line with the terms of the signed delivery agreement with TfGM.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That:
To accept the Active Travel Capability Fund 4 Grant of £120,000 from TfGM and enter into the funding agreement and proceed with the design and development of three new School Streets schemes across the borough.

This ensures:
• Progress towards the Council’s ambitions to promote sustainable and safe travel to school.
• Alignment with Oldham’s Transport Strategy, Greater Manchester’s Transport Strategy 2040, and Vision Zero goals

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - To accept the Active Travel Capability Fund 4 Grant of £120,000 from TfGM and enter into the funding agreement and proceed with the design and development of three new School Streets schemes across the borough.

Option 2 - To not accept the Active Travel Capability Fund 4 grant of £120,000 from TfGM and cease the design and development of three new School Streets schemes across the borough.
