Further to the cabinet report in August
delegating the order of new furniture to the Executive Director
Place (now Deputy Chief Executive), the council has entered into
contract with Jenkinsons as our furniture supplier and this order
for furniture is in addition to the previous order for desks and
task chairs for the new Spindles Workspace.
The contract order is required to ensure the Spindles workspace can
become operational. New furniture is required to facilitate the new
ways of working prior as staff transition from the Civic Centre
into the new workspace from January 2024.
RESOLVED - That: the furniture order with
Jenkinsons be completed.
Option 1 - Complete the furniture order with
Jenkinsons that has undergone a value engineering exercise. This
will allow the Spindles Workspace project to move forward to
completion and staff to transition over to the new workspace early
next year.
Option 2 - Do not purchase the furniture, this will halt the
relocation of staff into an environment that supports new ways of
working, providing a modern and efficient workspace whilst also
preventing the opportunity to generate revenue savings and
redevelop the Civic Centre site for homes within Oldham.
Option 2
