The report seeks the approval for the
commencement of works to provide the control of weeds throughout
the Boroughs adopted highway network.

RESOLVED - That:Contract approval for the
Provision of Highway Weed Control
Option 1: RC Solutions Pitch Care are awarded
the contract for the provision of Highway Weed Control. This
provides a high-quality service achieving best value
Option 2: Not to award the contract and not control the weeds on
the highway, which would result in break-up of the highway
infrastructure leading to higher costs for repair and maintenance.
This could also influence the number of claims for damage or injury
on the highway network.
It would also leave the Council without a formal contract in place
and due to the value, a new tender exercise would be required thus
increasing timescales and missing the first spray cycle of the
season.
