The purpose of the report is to seek approval
for awarding the 12-month extension option within the contract
between Oldham Council and Furniture Resource Centre for the supply
of white goods and new and pre-loved furniture provided to eligible
residents under the Local Welfare Provision Scheme.
RESOLVED - That: To extend the Local Welfare
Provision supplier contract for a further 12 months with the
current providers; Furniture Resource Centre Ltd.
Option 1 - To award the optional 1-year
extension to Furniture Resource Centre who have provided a
high-quality service and have shown a real commitment to the Oldham
Community particularly through the current pandemic.
Option 2 - That the 1year extension is not approved however, due to
the need of the service and the value of the contract a new tender
exercise would be required. Not having a Local Welfare Provision
Scheme will leave the Council open to challenge and would be
inconsistent with the approach taken by Government to support
vulnerable people during the COVID pandemic
Option 2
