LWP Contract Extension

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member - Finance and Low Carbon (Deputy Leader - Councillor Abdul Jabbar)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

The purpose of the report is to seek approval for awarding the 12-month extension option within the contract between Oldham Council and Furniture Resource Centre for the supply of white goods and new and pre-loved furniture provided to eligible residents under the Local Welfare Provision Scheme.

RESOLVED - That: To extend the Local Welfare Provision supplier contract for a further 12 months with the current providers; Furniture Resource Centre Ltd.

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - To award the optional 1-year extension to Furniture Resource Centre who have provided a high-quality service and have shown a real commitment to the Oldham Community particularly through the current pandemic.
Option 2 - That the 1year extension is not approved however, due to the need of the service and the value of the contract a new tender exercise would be required. Not having a Local Welfare Provision Scheme will leave the Council open to challenge and would be inconsistent with the approach taken by Government to support vulnerable people during the COVID pandemic

Alternative options considered:

Option 2
