i) Waterhead Academy - Julie Rogers, Assistant Vice Principal of Waterhead Academy, together with Louise Fox, Assistant Principal of Communications and Marketing at Oldham College, attended the meeting for this item. Louise Fox gave an update on various aspects of the student integration. The meeting was informed that the Academy would open in September 2010 in the two existing buildings which would be known as the Roxbury and the Moorside campus. The Waterhead Academy would open on the new site in September 2012.
A new website had been developed to enable communication with stakeholders details of which were submitted; along with a timetable for the building programme and details of student integration plans. Members welcomed the report and the Chair thanked both Julie and Louise for their input to the meeting.

ii) Police - Inspector Melita Worswick GMP advised on the following:

A lot of hard work was being carried out by residents and partners in the Shakespeare Road area;
Work in the Beresford Street area, where there had been issues with children congregating around the steps, had taken off quite quickly;
It had been recognised that there appeared to have been an increase in anti social behaviour on Wednesday evenings and in a bid to combat this "Operation Algebra" had been extended to cover Wednesdays;
Police Cuts - Inspector Worswick advised that there were no plans at present to cut the number of PCSOs working in the area.
In response to a Partner's query the meeting was advised that the increase in anti social behaviour had been in the Ripponden Road and Huddersfield Road areas. Julie Rodgers offered to look at what activities the Academy offered on these evenings and Jayne Entwistle agreed to flag up this issue with Steve Hardy.

The Chair thanked Inspector Worswick for the work of the Police in East Oldham and commended in particular the work that had been carried out at Wellyhole Street.

A Friday night session had been piloted from 8pm until 10pm at which there had been a good turn out with on average 28 young people attending the session;

The Chair thanked Dawn for her input to the meeting.
