Provision of an Indepenent Mental Advocacy Service

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member - Health and Social Care

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

For the award of new provision of an Independent Mental Advocacy (IMCA) following a transparent tender led by Tameside Council

Decision:

RESOLVED - That the provision of an independent mental advocacy service, following the transparent tender led by Tameside Council be awarded as outlined in the report

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - To approve the recommendation of contributing towards the tri-partite IMCA Contract Arrangement with Tameside leading. This includes Tameside awarding the new contract for 2020-2025. This is based on the same overall budget as the previous commission and will ensure that as an authority, we are legally compliant
Option 2 - To do nothing and have no contract in place. The service is a statutory requirement under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. If this service was not re-tendered it would mean that the council will not be able to meet the statutory requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 placing some of our most vulnerable citizens at risk.

Alternative options considered:

Option 2
