Purpose:
The purpose of the report is to seek approval
for the Council to sell the vacant, surplus properties at 56-58
Gibraltar Street to the Department for Education ('DfE') in
connection with the redevelopment of the former Breeze Hill School.
The properties are shown edged red in the plan attached in Appendix
One.
Decision:
RESOLVED - That the Council proceed to dispose
of the Freehold interest in the vacant properties at 56-58
Gibraltar Street, subject to the provisionally agreed heads of
terms set out in Appendix Two.
Reasons for the decision:
Option 1 - Do nothing.
Option 2 - Sell the properties on the open market.
Option 3 - Sell the properties to the DfE on the basis of a direct
disposal.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - Do nothing.
Option 2 - Sell the properties on the open market.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
Ward Councillors were alerted to the proposed
sale of the properties to the DfE in June 2019 and have not raised
any objections.
