Purpose:

Approval has already been obtained for the council acquisition of the gas holder site from National Grid and also for the council to fund the full amount of the demolition costs and therefore the purpose of the report is for information only, to confirm the final demolition costs, which have been assessed on an open book basis and to provide a brief explanation for the increase in costs.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That:
the council to complete the purchase of the gas holder site from National Grid and to pay the balance of the actual demolition costs incurred by National Grid.

Option 1 - To complete the purchase of the gas holder site from National Grid and to pay the balance of the actual demolition costs incurred by National Grid.

Alternative options considered:

This is the only realistic option to be considered as the council is already under contract to National Grid to purchase the gas holder site and to fund the full cost of demolition, as per the previous approvals.
