Decision details

Medicines Optimisation Support

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member - Health and Social Care

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To seek an exemption from the contract procedure rules as stated in 21.3 (j) pg21 of the rules:
Where an extension for a particular period can be justified, for example where a Service review includes the intention to co-terminate relevant Contracts within a reasonable period.
This will ensure continued Medicines Optimisation support for Public Health commissioned services covering the period 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020.
Over the coming year the single commissioning functions for Oldham Cares will be established. This provides an opportunity to join up commissioning of medicines optimisation support across organisations.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That:
An exemption from the contract procedure rules as stated in 21.3 (j) pg21 of the rules:
Where an extension for a particular period can be justified, for example where a Service review includes the intention to co-terminate relevant Contracts within a reasonable period.

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - To explore whether Medicines Optimisation support could be provided by Oldham CCG. However this could have an adverse impact on continuity of service, and could best be pursued during the coming year as part of establishment of new single commissioning function arrangements.
Option 2 - To seek an exemption from the contract procedure rules as stated in 21.3 (j) pg21 of the rules:
Where an extension for a particular period can be justified, for example where a Service review includes the intention to co-terminate relevant Contracts within a reasonable period.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - To explore whether Medicines Optimisation support could be provided by Oldham CCG. However this could have an adverse impact on continuity of service, and could best be pursued during the coming year as part of establishment of new single commissioning function arrangements.
