The purpose of the report is to seek approval
for the Council to appropriate the subject land and property to the
Housing Revenue Account and take steps to demolish the
building.
RESOLVED - That the Council;
- Appropriate the subject land and property to the Housing Revenue
Account.
- Submit a notice to the Planning Authority for the demolition of
the former Failsworth Youth Centre.
- Instruct the Unity Partnership to procure and oversee a
pre-demolition asbestos survey and upon the report being returned,
to procure and oversee an asbestos removal contractor to carry out
the identified asbestos removal works;
- Prepare, tender and complete the demolition opportunity via the
Chest and;
- Work with the Cabinet Member for Housing with a view to bringing
forward the redevelopment of the cleared site, with any proposals
for the land being subject to a further report.
Option 1 - Do nothing.
Option 2 - Re-advertise the opportunity in its current condition
via auction.
Option 3 - Re-advertise the opportunity in its current condition
via private treaty.
Option 4 - Demolish the property and re-advertise the cleared site
via informal tender or auction.
Option 5 - Demolish the property and progress plans for the Council
to develop the site.
Option 1 - Do nothing.
Option 2 - Re-advertise the opportunity in its current condition
via auction.
Option 3 - Re-advertise the opportunity in its current condition
via private treaty.
Option 4 - Demolish the property and re-advertise the cleared site
via informal tender or auction.
