Purpose:

The purpose of the report is to seek approval for the Council to open negotiations to acquire two, long-term empty properties on Primrose Bank.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That;
- The Council seek to enter into negotiations with the owners of the subject properties with a view to demolishing the buildings immediately following acquisition;
- That any purchase be carried out on the basis of the package of terms outlined in the course of the report, albeit with a further report outlining the detailed heads of terms once agreed and;
- In the event that both properties cannot be purchased by agreement, that a further report is prepared, outlining the additional options to the Council.

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - Do nothing.
Option 2 - Seek to acquire both properties by agreement.

As part of membership of the PFI Housing Board, the Cabinet Member for Housing has advocated the acquisition and demolition of these long-term vacant properties.
