Purpose:

To ensure the staffing requirements are in accordance with service needs and the appropriate posts a created to achieve this.
To support 'Get Oldham Working' by providing apprenticeship opportunities within the borough so that they can gain valuable skills, work experience and recognised qualifications.

Decision:

RESOLVED - That: Pending the publication, consultation and finalisation of an 'interim' ASO structure and based on the advice of colleagues from People Services, it is proposed that the following changes to the Agresso Support team's establishment to facilitate a successful recruitment process:
1. Delete the post of Assistant Accountant Grade 3
2. Create 2 x new posts of Apprentice Systems Analysts, (Finance

Reasons for the decision:

Option 1 - Do nothing and recruit to the vacant position with the existing Job Description and Person Specification, which is outdated and no longer meet the needs of the ASO

Option 2 - Delete the post of Assistant Accountant Grade 3 and create 2 x new posts of Apprentice Systems Analysts

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - This would result in inappropriate recruitment which would not provide the essential skills and experience as required by the ASO.

There are no current staff directly affected or at risk as these are newly created costs and require filling.
